FALSE AUDIO

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Straight answers about how False Audio works, what it sends, what it keeps, and what it costs.

Using False Audio

Does it change my mix without asking?
No. Every request ends in a proposal you can audition with A/B. Nothing changes until you press Apply, and it never changes settings in the background.
How do I undo a change?
Type “undo that”, or pick the change in the Hub’s history. Undo runs on your computer, needs no connection and costs nothing. The history is saved with your project.
What if I adjust a setting by hand?
The Link marks it as set by you, and later proposals leave it alone. Undo won’t overwrite it either.
Do I need a Link on every track?
Only on the tracks you want it to work on. It can’t see or change a track without a Link, and it tells you when a request needs one.
What if two tracks match what I said?
It asks which one you mean, for example “Gtr L, Gtr R, or both?”, rather than guessing.
Does it replace my plugins?
No. It makes its moves with the processing built into the Link: EQ, compressor, transient shaper, saturation, stereo width and reverb. Your other plugins carry on as they are.
Does the Link add latency?
No. The Link’s processing adds no latency, and with every stage off the audio passes through untouched.
Can I talk to it instead of typing?
Not yet. Voice commands are planned. For now you type your requests.

DAWs and computers

Which DAWs does it work in?
It runs as AU and VST3 plugins on macOS. Logic Pro is the tested host; other AU and VST3 hosts should work. See the list of DAWs.
Does it work in Pro Tools?
No. Pro Tools only loads AAX plugins, and there’s no AAX version of False Audio.
Is there a Windows version?
Not yet. Windows is planned, with no date.
Does it work offline?
Planning a new move needs an internet connection. Undo, A/B and the Link’s own controls work without one.
Where do I download it?
The public download isn’t out yet. See system requirements and setup.

Your music

Is my audio uploaded?
No. The Links measure your tracks on your computer. A request sends text and numbers: your words, track names and roles, and measurements such as levels and loudness. Read exactly what is sent.
Will you use my music to train AI?
No. Your audio never leaves your computer, and we don’t build AI models from your music, your sessions or your requests. What you make is yours.
Which AI model does it use?
Claude, from Anthropic. It chooses the moves; checks in the Hub then hold every plan to safe limits before you hear it.

Credits and pricing

How much does a request cost?
A few credits, about 3 for a typical one. The price follows the AI model’s work on the request, so short requests cost less and long ones more.
What’s free?
New accounts get 300 starter credits once the email address is confirmed. Auditioning, applying and undoing never use credits.
What happens when I run out?
New requests stop until you top up, and the Hub tells you so. Everything you’ve applied stays, and undo keeps working.
Can I use my own API key?
No. All requests go through your False Audio account and its credits.
Where do I buy credits?
In your account. The pricing page lists the packs and the monthly plan.
